Seán MacDiarmada (1883 – 1916) was an Irish political activist and revolutionary leader. He was one of the seven leaders of the Easter Rising in 1916 and a signatory of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic. He was a member of the Military Committee of the Irish Republican Brotherhood in 1906 and assumed managerial responsibility for the I. R. B. newspaper “Irish Freedom” in 1910. MacDiarmada was a relentless organiser and played a critical role in managing the logistical preparations for the 1916 Easter Rising.
