Ceannt in brief:
Eamonn Ceannt was an Irish republican revolutionary leader and a signatory of the Proclamation of the Republic. He was a founder member of the Irish Volunteers and commanded the 4th Battalion in the South Dublin Union (currently St James Hospital) during the 1916 Easter Rising. As Commander, Eamonn and his Battalion were involved in close quarter fighting and held their ground for 7 days until ordered to surrender by his superior officer Patrick Pearse.
